Wooden Plank Walls

Interior Brick Walls

Who says that wood planks are just for the floors and that brick should only be used for exterior walls? We are seeing a variety of textures where more and more individuals are experimenting with their living space. White-washed walls and standard oak hardwood flooring is always the safe option.  But for those who need a little more edge and innovation, may we suggest several popular trends which are currently circulating through our Show Room.

For 2016, we predict the demand for rustic, textured, natural, and organic design will be ongoing.  Wide-plank barnwood-aged flooring is appealing.  A home that looks lived-in, with aged-looking walls and flooring, creates a very warm welcome.

Wide-plank hardwood flooring truly helps showcase the characteristics of wood in a way we haven’t seen before.  A wider plank provides a rich showcase of natural grain and tone in each board.  We have many new samples from which to choose.

Texture on accent walls has now taken the place of smooth sheetrock.  We are seeing how wooden planks, brick, and stucco play up the interior of kitchens and living areas.  The Show Room here at Shaw’s has hardwood flooring up to 7 inches wide in a variety of textures and colors.  White-washed wood flooring and ship-lap walls have recently become a popular option.

If you want to give your home a more organic, rustic, or natural atmosphere, updating your floors and walls would be a priority!  Floors and walls are the basis of interior design and help create a mood that will flow throughout your entire home.
